How to Grow Coriander from Seed

Coriander is one of those herbs/spices that people either love or hate, there doesn’t seem to be many without a strong opinion. If you are a fan of Thai, Indian, Middle Eastern or Latin American food, there is a good chance you would like to have this versatile plant in your vegetable patch.

Plant your seeds about 1cm deep in well draining, compost rich soil or premium potting mix if growing in pots or seed raising trays. Keep the water up to the seeds, seedlings and growing plants. Full sun is fine but some shelter from hot afternoon sun would be better. Coriander tends to bolt to seed in hot weather, so growing in Autumn/Winter/Spring is best.

Snip off leaves and stems to use as you need, and the plant will keep growing.

Don’t forget that the whole plant is edible; leaves, stems, roots, and seeds.
